[Global Times Tech Report] May 30 — Back at CES this past January, LG unveiled its UltraGear evo GX9 monitor (model 39GX950B), touted as the world's first 39-inch ultrawide 5K2K OLED gaming display.

According to MacRumors, LG has officially confirmed that while pre-orders opened last month—and some early orders have already begun shipping—formal mass shipments are scheduled to commence next week. The product is currently available for pre-order on LG's official website, priced at $1,799.99.
The UltraGear evo GX9 features a 39-inch Tandem OLED panel with a 1500R curvature design. It boasts a resolution of 5120 × 2160 (5K2K) and an aspect ratio of 21:9. The panel delivers a contrast ratio of up to 1,850,000:1, a refresh rate of 165Hz, and 98.5% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Its typical brightness is 335 nits, while HDR peak brightness reaches 1,500 nits at 1.5% APL (Average Picture Level) and 600 nits at 10% APL. With a pixel density of 143 pixels per inch, the display does not quite reach "Retina" resolution standards; however, when viewed at the typical distance associated with such a large, curved screen, the actual imagery remains crisp and sharp.

Notably, the combination of the large 39-inch screen and the 1500R curved design encourages users to maintain a greater viewing distance. In practical use, this effectively compensates for the fact that the 143 PPI density falls short of Retina-level standards, ensuring that the on-screen visuals remain clear and sharp.
